The first thing that should be well-known about their difference is the before and after. By that we mean an engagement ring is worn before the wedding while the wedding ring is worn during and after. Seems simple enough, isn’t it? The distinction between the ways these rings look also give them away. They do have some things in common though.
For example, both rings are worn by the lady and on the left hand’s third finger. Anywhere else doesn’t count as a ring involving a wedding or a marriage. They would just be regular rings.
AN ENGAGEMENT RING
This is typically given by the man to his lady if he decides he wants to marry her and be with her forever. From choosing the ring and buying it, it all falls on the man. He could be purchasing that ring from the local jewellers to Anania Family Jewellers store in Sydney CBD, as long as he bought the one ring that his lady would love.
Choosing it is also an arduous task all on itself, since it’s a bit difficult to determine what his girl would even love. The man will have to depend on the lady’s style if he isn’t so sure. Does she prefer classic styles? Does she love the bohemian styles of the world? Is she very fond of vintage? Decide on the ring based on that, unless you two have come to an agreement and plan to shop for the rings together. There are a lot of couples who do that nowadays, who don’t bother with surprises. It all depends on you. Just make sure that your lady will love the ring.
A WEDDING RING
The best thing about wedding rings is that it isn’t just the lady showing this off anymore because the man is also wearing one. Sometimes they’re just plain bands of gold but sometimes you would see really beautiful golden wedding rings that have diamonds or any sparkling stones out there placed on the rings. It’s worn on the third finger on your left hand because Ancient Egyptians back then believed that particular finger led straight to the heart.
Some couples even have their wedding rings have each other’s names on them on the inside, as a secret and intimate gesture of who they really belong to.
These two rings will eventually be worn together during the nuptials and the ceremony as well. The engagement ring gets removed so the wedding ring can go in first, followed by the previous engagement ring, making the ring set complete on the lady’s hand. This is done during the wedding ceremony as well. Whatever the case, choosing the rings is both a fun and a daunting task for the man. However, if it is for the “one” then it shouldn’t even be much of a bother. Just make sure you know where you’re getting the rings.
